Photo Essay-The Making of a Christmas Tree

For this assignment, I chose to record what my family does every Friday after Thanksgiving-we decorate our Christmas tree. It is a tradition we have done since I was little and one that I look forward to every year. So here is our story.

Photo Illustrations

For this assignment, I decided to illustrate two words. The first is determination. The two pictures of these swimmers illustrates the time and determination it took for them to learn the strokes that they are swimming. They practice each day for hours on end and never tire because they are alway working toward a goal. They are determined.

Jeremy Hunt, 17, of Palatka, Fl. practices the butterfly, his favorite stroke. I used photoshop to blur his arm movements a little more than they were to illustrate movement.

Hannah Maddox, 15, of Palatka, Fl. practices what she says is the hardest stroke to master, the breaststroke.

The next set of pictures are meant to illustrate the idea of how small we human beings really are. So often we get caught up in our own worlds and forget how little we are in comparison to everything else.

I also decided to take some pictures of some blueberry blooms and photoshop some blueberries into them to illustrate what the blooms will become.

Issues Project

The issue that Meredith and I chose to explore for this project was the role that fast-food chains have played in the rising levels of obesity in our society. We chose to look at several including Burger King and McDonald's. Here are just a few images of what we saw when we went to these establishments.
